Never a Better Time to Be a Yakima Entrepreneur
Here's why: the internet and social media have opened up incredible opportunities for us.
As a society, we now have access to a vast window of possibilities that weren't always available to us before, especially when it comes to caring for our families and children. We have networks and communities that can provide the support we need while we balance our business goals.
The real key is having the courage to explore your ideas and dreams, and to seek feedback from others. As you ask people about your business ideas, opportunities will begin to open up for you. Have the courage to say, "I'm worth it, and I really want to pursue this!"
Embrace Your Unique Gifts as a Yakima Woman in Business
Not only is the time ideal for women to step into entrepreneurship, but industries like real estate can present fantastic opportunities while playing to the innate strengths of women and catering to the lifestyles they want to lead.
Real Estate Plays to the Strengths of Women Entrepreneurs
In the past, real estate was a predominantly male industry. My father was a realtor in the 1980s, and his office had the classic bullpen with the gentlemen still smoking cigarettes at their desks. It was 90% men; there were 4 women in the 50-person office who all did administrative work.
That time seems so crazy to think about because now it's women who have risen to prominence and dominate this industry. I think this shift can mainly be attributed to the innate qualities that women possess:
Empathy
Strong interpersonal skills
Nurturing abilities
The ability to nurture makes women exceptional at connecting with clients, coaching them through the buying or selling process, and organizing transactions effectively. The real estate industry just aligns well with our natural strengths.
Real Estate Supports the Lifestyle of Women in Business
The other advantage to working in real estate is having the opportunity to build a business that allows for creativity and individuality with how you approach your work. With real estate, your business reflects:
Your personal style
Communication preferences
Marketing strategies
Entering the real estate industry as a woman can really empower you to create an incredible life on your own terms.
Why You NEED to Create Structure for Your Day
One of the biggest things that has helped me build such an incredible life, whether I was in the thick of building my business or transitioning to being an empty nester, is having structure and setting boundaries. This has been absolutely crucial for me to maintain focus and prevent distractions.
The real estate industry in Yakima offers an excellent platform for women entrepreneurs to thrive. It recognizes and values the unique qualities women bring to the table, like empathy and nurturing. The flexibility, potential for unlimited earnings, and ability to build a business that reflects individual style make real estate a really attractive choice for women who are seeking to create an incredible life. With effective communication and structured working hours, even busy, single moms can find success in this industry.
The Importance of Finding Your "WHY?" as a Yakima Entrepreneur
My journey in Yakima real estate has had its challenges, and in today's times we're so fortunate to have things like social media platforms that can connect us to other inspiring women who are embracing their dreams and sharing their stories. But another thing business women need to keep in mind at all times is why they're pursuing entrepreneurship.
What is Your "Why" as an Entrepreneur?
Your "why" is about making a deeper impact that goes beyond simple transactions. It's not just about the current task at hand. It's about the bigger purpose behind your actions. Your "why" can also change and evolve over time.
As an entrepreneur in Yakima real estate, it can be so easy to say, "I do what I do to help buyers and sellers in the real estate market." That may be true and accurate description of what I do, but that's what every realtor does; it's not very specific or meaningful.
If you have children at home, some of your "why's" might look like:
I want to provide a bright future for my children.
I want to ensure my children have access to quality education without financial burden.
I want to create a lifestyle that aligns with our family's passions and values.
If you're an empty-nester, your "why" might move or shift to ideas like:
I want to deliver an experience that allows people to step into their dream homes.
I believe in helping families build generational wealth.
I want to help single parents achieve their home buying aspirations.
I believe in giving back to my community by helping people thrive.
Getting specific about our "why" fuels our excitement and motivation. It resides in our hearts and drives us to make those sacrifices and commitments for our businesses. Our "why" pushes us towards true, personal success and helps us show up every day with a purpose.
Without a "why," entrepreneurship can feel empty and lacking meaning. Merely accomplishing tasks or achieving specific goals is never going to be enough. It will only benefit you to dive into the exploration of your "why" and to let it be the driving force behind your ventures as an entrepreneur.
